Medical-Surgical Nurse | 13-Week Contract
Location: Birmingham, AL
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and select holidays
Start Date: October 5, 2026
About the Role
The facility's medical-surgical unit is seeking an experienced RN to provide comprehensive care to adult patients with diverse medical and surgical diagnoses. You'll manage patients across varying acuity levels, from acute medical conditions to post-operative recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and manage pain control
- Provide pre- and post-operative care, including wound assessment
- Coordinate care for patients with chronic conditions (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory)
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Minimum 2 years recent medical-surgical nursing experience and travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- CMSRN certification preferred
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- Ability to manage 4–6 patients per shift
Contract Details
This 13-week assignment extends through the beginning of the year. Travel experience is required.
