Pediatric Respiratory Therapist – PICU/NICU

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist for its pediatric critical care units. You'll provide respiratory support to neonates, infants, and pediatric patients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Shift & Schedule

  • Shift: Night, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Schedule: Block scheduling required; every other weekend as needed
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • No on-call required

Requirements

  • Texas RRT license in hand at submission
  • Minimum 1 year of PICU/NICU respiratory therapy experience
  • Current BLS, RRT, PALS, and NRP certifications
  • Compact license accepted

Clinical Scope

You'll manage a range of pediatric respiratory conditions and interventions, including:

  • Intubation assist and extubation
  • Airway placement and suctioning (oral, nasal, endotracheal)
  • Tracheostomy care and management
  • Ventilator management (Draeger V800, VN800, LTV 1200)
  • High-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, CPAP
  • Mechanical ventilation troubleshooting and weaning

  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • You may be asked to float to nearby sister facilities when needed
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Two professional references covering 1 year of experience required (within last 3 years)
