Pediatric Respiratory Therapist – PICU/NICU
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist for its pediatric critical care units. You'll provide respiratory support to neonates, infants, and pediatric patients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: Night, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Schedule: Block scheduling required; every other weekend as needed
- Duration: 13 weeks
- No on-call required
Requirements
- Texas RRT license in hand at submission
- Minimum 1 year of PICU/NICU respiratory therapy experience
- Current BLS, RRT, PALS, and NRP certifications
- Compact license accepted
Clinical Scope
You'll manage a range of pediatric respiratory conditions and interventions, including:
- Intubation assist and extubation
- Airway placement and suctioning (oral, nasal, endotracheal)
- Tracheostomy care and management
- Ventilator management (Draeger V800, VN800, LTV 1200)
- High-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, CPAP
- Mechanical ventilation troubleshooting and weaning

- Interdisciplinary respiratory services support available

- Orientation: 24 hours
- You may be asked to float to nearby sister facilities when needed
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Two professional references covering 1 year of experience required (within last 3 years)
