Physical Therapist Assistant | Inpatient Acute Care | Petaluma, CA

13-Week Travel Contract | Day Shift | 5x8-Hour (08:00–16:30)

This travel PTA position is based in a community hospital setting providing primarily acute inpatient physical therapy, with the potential for a mixed inpatient/outpatient caseload. Referrals are driven largely by med-surg and hospitalist services.

Clinical Scope

• Adult and geriatric patient population (adolescents to geriatrics)
• Diagnoses include orthopedic conditions, post-op spinal and shoulder surgeries, total hip/knee replacements, neurological conditions (stroke, TBI, Parkinson's, MS), CHF, COPD, and general deconditioning
• Gait training, therapeutic exercise, functional mobility, patient and family education, assistive/adaptive device fitting
• No wound care required

Scheduling & Float

• Day shift; 40-hour orientation included
• On weekends, the PTA may be the sole therapist covering the acute unit — strong independent practice and time management skills are essential
• Float to a nearby sister facility may be required; refusal to float may affect assignment and guaranteed hours

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PT/PTA experience (2 years preferred)
• Active California PT license — compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Must commit to 3 of 5 designated holidays

Additional Details

• One pre-approved time-off block available
• Two professional references required (covering at least 1 year within the last 3 years)
• Prior experience at any facility within this health system must be disclosed at submission
