ICU / CVICU Travel Nurse — North Charleston, SC

13-Week Contract | Days | 3×12-Hour Shifts

This mixed ICU position offers an exceptional opportunity to expand advanced cardiovascular and neurosciences nursing skills in a dynamic, high-acuity environment.

Shift & Schedule

  • 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Every other weekend required; holiday rotation shared with staff
  • Guaranteed hours: 48 per contract period

Unit Overview

The ICU manages a complex, mixed patient population including post-operative cardiovascular and neuro surgical cases. Travelers may float to the ED or a PCU setting to manage ICU or PCU-level holds. Bedside shift report is standard practice for every patient handoff.

Clinical Scope & Procedures

  • Post-op day-0 CABG (fresh open-heart from OR)
  • Impella and intra-aortic balloon pump management
  • Swan-Ganz catheterization and advanced hemodynamics
  • CRRT
  • Neurosurgical care: aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVDs, ICP bolt monitoring, and induced hypothermia management
  • Head and neck flap procedures
  • Respiratory treatments (inhalers/nebulizers) administered by nursing
  • Telemetry interpretation required

Required Certifications

BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale

Preferred

BSN, TNCC, CCRN or other advanced critical care certification, prior CVICU experience

Minimum Experience

  • 36 months RN experience, with at least 12 months in an ICU
  • One prior travel nursing assignment preferred
  • Comfort managing 1–3 ICU patients and ventilator-dependent patients
