ICU / CVICU Travel Nurse — North Charleston, SC

This mixed ICU position offers a high-acuity clinical environment managing cardiovascular and neurological patients. The unit cares for complex cases including post-operative cardiac surgery patients (fresh hearts from the OR), as well as neuro patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Shift & Schedule

  • Nights: 19:00–07:00
  • 3 × 12-hour shifts per week
  • Every other weekend and holidays in rotation with permanent staff
  • 13-week contract | Start date: August 17, 2026

Clinical Scope & Procedures

  • Post-op day 0 CABG management
  • Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump, Swan-Ganz catheter, advanced hemodynamics
  • Neuro procedures: EVDs, intracranial pressure monitoring, induced hypothermia
  • CRRT management
  • Ventilator management
  • Bedside administration of respiratory treatments (inhalers/nebulizers) outside the ICU
  • Phlebotomy
  • Telemetry interpretation
  • Bedside shift report required for every patient at each transfer of care

Float Requirement

Travelers are first to float and may be assigned to the emergency department or PCU to cover ICU and PCU holds.

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 36 months RN experience, including at least 1 year in an ICU
  • BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale certifications
  • Comfortable managing 1–3 ICU patients, including ventilator-dependent patients

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN
  • CVICU or Neuro ICU experience
  • TNCC certification
  • Prior travel nursing experience
  • CRRT and advanced hemodynamics proficiency

Dress Code: Navy scrubs

The facility is open to training motivated travelers interested in expanding skills in Neuro ICU and Cardiovascular ICU care, including experience with head and neck flap procedures.
