ICU RN – Mixed Cardiovascular & Neuro Critical Care
Position Details
- Shift: Nights (19:00–07:00), 3–4 twelve-hour shifts per week
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Location: North Charleston, SC
- Dress Code: Navy uniform
About the Unit
You'll work in a mixed ICU managing high-acuity cardiovascular and neuro patients. The unit handles post-op cardiac cases (fresh CABG, Impella, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz), advanced hemodynamics monitoring, and neuro procedures including aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage care with EVDs, intracranial bolts, and induced hypothermia protocols. You'll also care for head and neck flap reconstruction patients—part of one of only 14 such programs nationally.
Requirements
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
- Minimum 36 months RN experience; at least 1 year in ICU
- Comfort managing 1–3 patients, including those on ventilators
- Ability to read telemetry strips
- One prior successful travel assignment preferred
- Advanced skills desired: CRRT, hemodynamics, phlebotomy; TNCC and advanced certifications preferred
Scheduling & Expectations
- Every other weekend and holidays in rotation with staff
- Travelers float first; potential assignments to ED or PCU holds
- Strong teamwork and supportive management culture
BSN preferred. Prior CVICU experience a plus.
