ICU Travel RN — North Charleston, SC
Nights | 13-Week Contract
This mixed ICU position offers a compelling clinical environment for experienced critical care nurses, with exposure to both cardiovascular and neurological critical care patient populations.
Shift & Schedule
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend and rotating holidays required
- Contract duration: 13 weeks | Guaranteed hours: 36/week
Unit Overview
The ICU manages a high-acuity mixed patient population, including post-operative cardiac surgery patients (fresh hearts from the OR), hemodynamic monitoring cases, and complex neurological conditions. Travelers may float to the ED or PCU to manage holds.
Clinical Scope & Procedures
- Post-op day 0 CABG management
- Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump, and Swan-Ganz catheter management
- Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Neuro critical care: aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, external ventricular drains (EVDs), intracranial pressure monitoring, and induced hypothermia management
- CRRT
- Phlebotomy
- Respiratory treatments (inhalers and nebulizers) administered by RNs outside the ICU
- Bedside shift report is the standard handoff method
Requirements
- Minimum 36 months RN experience, including at least 1 year in an ICU
- Ventilator management proficiency
- Telemetry strip interpretation
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- CVICU or Neuro ICU background strongly preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
- Preferred: BSN, TNCC, advanced certifications
