Medical Lab Tech

Blood Bank Medical Technologist – Night Shift | Morgantown, WV

This 26-week contract places a Medical Technologist exclusively in the Blood Bank department at an acute care facility in Morgantown, WV. There is no generalist or phlebotomy requirement — this role is Blood Bank only.

Shift & Schedule

• 8-hour nights: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekends and holidays required as scheduled
• 40 guaranteed hours per week
• No on-call or standby requirements

Orientation

New staff complete a four-week day-shift training period covering safety, compliance, policies, and a structured training checklist before transitioning to independent night-shift work.

Required Credentials

• MT (AMT) or MLS (ASCP) certification
• High Complexity Testing Personnel (HCTP) License or Trainee License issued by the WV Department of Health
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical/biological science (or CLIA grandfathered exception with 30+ years of concurrent experience)
• BLS not required; no direct patient contact

Preferred Experience

• Blood bank operations in a high-acuity, high-volume environment
• Familiarity with laboratory information and order management systems
• Experience with automated blood bank instrumentation

Dress Code

Scrubs or business casual attire; no open-toed shoes; no designated scrub color

Cancellation Policy

Up to 2 shifts may be canceled per 13-week period; 1 shift for assignments shorter than 13 weeks
