CVICU Registered Nurse | Columbia, SC | 13-Week Contract

This cardiovascular ICU assignment focuses on high-acuity adult patients recovering from complex cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. The unit cares for post-sternotomy patients following coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, aortic dissection repair, carotid endarterectomy, lobectomy, and other cardiothoracic procedures, as well as vascular patients with significant comorbidities.

Shift & Schedule

• Days, 3×12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling

Contract Details

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Start: October 2026
• 48-hour orientation
• Float to other qualified units may be required based on census

Required Certifications & Education

• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's preferred
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience
• Travel nursing experience required
• 1 year minimum experience with an electronic health record system required

Clinical Skills & Competencies

• Arterial line and central line management
• Ventilator and BiPAP/CPAP management
• ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, and CRRT/CVVHD management
• Pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz catheter monitoring
• Post-cardiac surgery care (including direct OR arrivals)
• Epicardial pacing wire care, TAVR, and sheath removal
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• CVA/acute stroke management and dysrhythmia interpretation
