Operating Room RN – Nights | Des Moines, IA | 13-Week Contract

This busy, multi-service OR team is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week night shift contract. The unit manages a high volume of surgical cases across a broad range of specialties, with an average of 35–50 cases per day and a turnover expectation under 20 minutes.

Shift Details

• Monday–Thursday, 4x10s | 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• 40 hours/week
• No on-call or weekend requirements during the week; call coverage runs end of shift Friday through 6:30 AM Monday
• Holiday rotation required (1–2 of Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)

Clinical Scope

• Service lines include cardiac/peripheral vascular, neuro, orthopedic trauma, robotics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, pediatrics, transplant, ENT, and plastics
• Robotic-assisted surgery experience is a must; neuro navigation technology utilized
• Ortho focus is primarily trauma — minimal joint replacement volume
• Both circulating and scrub roles expected; scrub experience strongly preferred
• Float across multiple campuses required

Requirements

• Minimum 24 months of current OR experience (hospital/medical center setting prioritized)
• Required case experience: General, Robotic (Da Vinci), Pediatrics, Trauma
• Preferred case experience: Neuro, Ortho trauma, Gyn, Uro, Transplant, Plastics, ENT, Vascular
• Trauma Level II experience required; Level I preferred
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment within the past 9 months (no first-time travelers)
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required at time of submission
• BLS (AHA or ARC) required
• Candidates must reside 50+ miles from the facility
