PCU / Stepdown

Stepdown / Med-Surg RN — Weekend Night Shift | Morgantown, WV

13-Week Contract | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 36 Guaranteed Hours/Week

This is a weekend-exclusive night shift position on a flex Stepdown/Med-Surg unit serving a diverse, primarily medical patient population. The unit accommodates both floor-level and step-down acuity patients based on census and clinical need.

Shift & Schedule

• 12-hour nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday
• No call or standby requirement
• Expect to work approximately half of recognized holidays

Clinical Scope

• Flex unit: nurses must be comfortable managing up to 6 patients (med-surg) or 3 patients (stepdown)
• RNs titrate drips per written orders; common agents include heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, opioid PCAs, and TPN
• Respiratory support includes CPAP and BiPAP (floor and stepdown) and high-flow oxygen and ventilators (stepdown); vent setting changes are managed by the ICU team
• Remote telemetry surveillance center supported by central unit monitoring; RNs are not required to independently interpret telemetry strips

Team & Support

• Charge RNs and House Supervisors on-site 24/7
• Clinical Associates (patient care techs) present on each shift
• First to float to other floor or stepdown units as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (WV or compact)
• BLS (AHA)
• Prior electronic health record experience required
• New and experienced RNs considered

Dress Code: Royal blue and/or white scrubs

Cancellation Policy: Up to 2 shifts per 13-week assignment
