Labor & Delivery RN – Travel Contract | Sacramento, CA
13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Nights | Every Other Weekend | First to Float
This high-acuity LDRP unit manages a full spectrum of obstetric care, including preterm labor, inductions, hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders, and cesarean sections. All nurses are expected to function across the continuum — labor and delivery, couplet care, antepartum, and circulating in the OR for C-sections.
Shift Details
- 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM; shift report at the bedside
- Every other weekend required; holiday rotation with staff
- Overtime and extra shifts available
- On-call response time: 30 minutes
- Float potential to other area facilities (rare mid-shift); no in-house floating
Clinical Scope
- Couplet care from admission through discharge
- Circulating C-sections is required for all RNs
- Titrating drips (Pitocin)
- EFM strip interpretation required for patients in PACU
- OB surgical techs on unit; OB hospitalist in house 24/7; neonatology on call 24/7; anesthesia in house 24/7
Required Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- STABLE certification preferred
Requirements
- Minimum 2 supervisor references at submittal (charge nurse accepted); 1 within 12 months, 1 within 3 years
- BSN not required
- Active RN license required
- Must not have been directly employed by a CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year
Scrubs: Provided
Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
Cancellation Policy: Up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
