ICU Travel Nurse — Night Shift | Mission Hills, CA
13-Week Contract | Nights 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Start: ASAP
This high-acuity ICU opportunity is ideal for experienced critical care nurses with a strong neurology background. The unit manages a diverse and complex patient population including acute stroke, STEMI, multi-trauma, cardiovascular surgery, and sepsis cases.
Unit & Clinical Scope
- High-acuity adult and geriatric patients across neuro, cardiovascular, surgical, and trauma diagnoses
- Clinical responsibilities include management of CABG, valve repairs, IABP, CRRT, EVDs, lumbar drains, ICP monitoring (monitoring only — placement not required of travelers), post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
- Additional procedures: arterial line management, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, continuous vasoactive and sedation drips, ventilator management, and cardiac bedside procedures for unstable patients
- Floating required: ICU overflow and PCU/Telemetry (in rotation with staff team; travelers do not float first)
Schedule & Requirements
- 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:00)
- No on-call required
- Holiday commitment: must work 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All RTO must be submitted at time of application
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required; prior travel experience required
- Strong neuro ICU background essential
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, LA City Fire Card
- Valid compact or California RN license required at time of submission
- No pending licenses accepted
