LTAC ICU – Registered Nurse | Night Shift | Columbia, SC

This contract role is in a Long-Term Acute Care ICU managing complex, high-acuity adult and geriatric patients. Staff float between the ICU and a med-surg unit, gaining experience across both care settings.

Shift & Schedule

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 4x12-hour shifts
  • 36 or 48 hours per week (both accepted)
  • Monday–Friday primary coverage; weekends supported by a rotating on-call pool shared among 6–8 staff members
  • On-call begins after 5:00 PM daily

Contract Details

  • 13-week contract (26-week option available)
  • Start date: October 5, 2026

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

  • Adults and geriatrics (18+)
  • Primary diagnoses: vent weaning, tracheostomy/PEG management, spinal cord injury, complex wound care, CVA/neurological conditions
  • Clinical skills include: mechanical ventilation management, arterial line and central line care, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, titration of insulin drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, thrombolytics, procedural sedation, and tracheostomy care
  • Interdisciplinary support: respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, phlebotomy

Required Certifications

  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience
  • Neurology experience required
  • LTAC experience preferred

Float Requirement

  • Float to med-surg (1:5 ratio) as needed based on census

Vaccines

  • Flu vaccine required; no exemptions
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required

Pre-assignment modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials; up to 16 hours of module time is reimbursable.
