Registered Nurse

Medical-Surgical RN — Surgical Focus | Night Shift | Latrobe, PA

Contract: 13 weeks | Shift: Nights, 3×12-hour (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Start: October 2026

This Med-Surg unit primarily serves adult and geriatric surgical patients across orthopedics, neurosurgery, general surgery, and urology. The unit is non-monitored and supported by a full interdisciplinary team including IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response, and social services.

Clinical Skills Required:

• Total joint replacement and pre/post-neurosurgery care
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), surgical drain management, wound care/wound vac
• PICC and central line management, peripheral nerve block catheter care
• Blood product administration, PCA, heparin, insulin
• Colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, substance withdrawal
• Rapid response/code team activation

Schedule & Coverage:

• Patient ratio: 1:6
• Weekend shifts required
• No on-call required
• Self-scheduling
• Floating within the facility and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius may be required

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg experience
• Active Pennsylvania or Compact RN license
• BLS (AHA only)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Two supervisor references preferred
• Candidates must be available for every other holiday
• Electronic health record experience preferred

Compliance Notes:

• Pre-start modules must be completed before entering the facility
• Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs due within 24–48 hours of signing
• All compliance must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to start date
