Pharmacist – Inpatient
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Pharmacist to join its inpatient pharmacy team. You'll provide safe, accurate medication management and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, dosing, allergies, interactions, and therapeutic effectiveness
- Dispense medications per physician orders, hospital policies, and federal/state regulations
- Provide clinical recommendations on medication selection, dosing, and adjustments
- Monitor patient therapies, laboratory results, and renal/hepatic function
- Participate in medication reconciliation and safe transitions of care
- Prepare, verify, and oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians
- Respond to medication-related questions from healthcare professionals
- Participate in emergency response situations, including code blue events
- Maintain accurate records in the electronic medical record
- Ensure compliance with controlled-substance regulations and hospital policies
- Assist with inventory management, shortage mitigation, and formulary compliance
- Identify and prevent medication errors and adverse drug events
- Educate patients and caregivers on medications when appropriate
Requirements
- Current pharmacy license
- Inpatient pharmacy operations experience preferred
- Experience with automated dispensing systems, IV medications, sterile compounding, antimicrobial stewardship, and electronic medication-management systems preferred
Shift & Contract Details
- Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, days/evenings rotating, every other weekend
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Start Date: October 4, 2026
