Cardiac/Telemetry Step-Down RN — Bridgeport, WV
13-Week Contract | 12-Hour Days | 36 Hours Guaranteed/Week
This cardiac/telemetry step-down unit manages intermediate-acuity cardiac and cardiopulmonary patients. Common diagnoses include AMI, post-cath, post-PCI, pacemaker management, respiratory failure, and post-operative lung surgery patients transitioning out of the ICU. Nurses also care for patients with chest tubes and CR bands. Sheath pulls and arterial lines are not performed on this unit.
Drip management is a firm requirement. Nurses must be proficient in titrating cardiac infusions including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrilin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro (up to 50 mcg).
Telemetry monitoring is continuous; RNs must independently read and interpret cardiac strips. CPAP and BiPAP are available and managed by respiratory therapy.
Shift & Scheduling Details:
- 12-hour shifts: 7a–7p or 7p–7a
- Days position; weekends as scheduled (every other weekend, Saturday/Sunday)
- Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
- Float to MedSurg/Tele units as needed
Unit Support:
- Charge nurse on duty 24/7 (day charge nurse is off the floor; night charge takes patients)
- CNA support available each shift
Requirements:
- Active RN license
- BLS and ACLS required
- Drip titration experience required
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
- Royal Blue scrubs
- No artificial nails
- Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
