Cardiac/Tele Stepdown Nurse – 12-Hour Night Shifts
About the Role
The facility's cardiac/tele stepdown unit cares for high-acuity cardiac patients requiring continuous monitoring and intervention. You'll manage post-cardiac catheterization patients, acute myocardial infarction cases, post-operative lung surgery patients, and those with respiratory failure, chest tubes, and pacemakers. This is a fast-paced environment where clinical skills and attention to detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care with a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Heparin, Nitro (up to 50 mcg), Integrelin, Ativan, and Lasix
- Read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy on CPAP and BiPap management
- Work with CNAs and support staff to deliver comprehensive care
Requirements
- Current RN license
- BLS and ACLS certification (required)
- Strong experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips
- Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms
- Comfort with high-acuity cardiac patients
Shift & Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Every-other-weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
- Participation in holiday rotation
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Standard floating to medical/surgical units; ratios protected if floating

- 13-week assignment
