Cardiac/Tele Stepdown Nurse – 12-Hour Night Shifts

About the Role

The facility's cardiac/tele stepdown unit cares for high-acuity cardiac patients requiring continuous monitoring and intervention. You'll manage post-cardiac catheterization patients, acute myocardial infarction cases, post-operative lung surgery patients, and those with respiratory failure, chest tubes, and pacemakers. This is a fast-paced environment where clinical skills and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care with a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Heparin, Nitro (up to 50 mcg), Integrelin, Ativan, and Lasix
  • Read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy on CPAP and BiPap management
  • Work with CNAs and support staff to deliver comprehensive care

Requirements

  • Current RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certification (required)
  • Strong experience titrating vasoactive and cardiac drips
  • Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms
  • Comfort with high-acuity cardiac patients

Shift & Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Every-other-weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Participation in holiday rotation
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Standard floating to medical/surgical units; ratios protected if floating

  • 13-week assignment
