Telemetry/Medical-Surgical Nurse
Position Overview
The facility seeks a Telemetry/Medical-Surgical Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment. You'll deliver direct patient care using the full nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation—while collaborating with the interdisciplinary health team.
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Set work week: Friday – Sunday
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
Clinical Scope
You'll care for geriatric, adult, medical-surgical, and telemetry patients. Current patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights. Floating to any non-critical care inpatient unit, including the Emergency Department for boarded patients, is a requirement. You may occasionally be placed on call during low-census periods; if called, you must be able to arrive on-site within one hour.
Requirements
- Current RN license
- ACLS certification
- Recent experience (within 12 months) with telemetry monitoring and medical-surgical nursing in a similar unit
- Strong EMR proficiency
Important Note
Upon acceptance, you'll be responsible for self-studying telemetry strips. A Basic Dysrhythmia test will be administered during your first week; passing is mandatory to work on this unit.
Location
Fort Madison, Iowa. You may be required to float to the West Burlington or Henry County campus as needed.
