Travel RN – Surgical ICU
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week contract in the Surgical ICU, working nights (7 PM – 7 AM). This is a high-acuity unit managing critically ill surgical and trauma patients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Unit Scope
You'll care for trauma patients, post-cardiac surgery (including post-CABG and post-TAVR), and general post-surgical ICU patients. The unit employs advanced hemodynamic support technologies including balloon pumps, CRRT, hypothermia protocols, and ECMO. Patient ratios are 1:2, with 1:1 assignments for high-acuity cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage central lines, chest tubes, and complex medication drips
- Monitor and support patients on advanced life support systems
- Collaborate with a team of 13 RNs, 1 Charge Nurse, and 1 Patient Care Tech per shift
- Provide skilled assessment and intervention for post-surgical complications
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year current hospital ICU experience
- ACLS, BLS, NIH, and TNCC certifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior travel nursing experience at large facilities
