Pediatric Intensive Care Unit – RN

Position Overview

The facility is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). You will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill children and adolescents, including post-operative patients, those requiring mechanical ventilation, and patients with complex medical needs.

Shift & Schedule

  • Rotating 3x12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM and 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Shifts may rotate based on operational needs; the facility will make every effort to honor your preferred schedule
  • Expect to work at least every other holiday
  • 13-week contract
  • Start date: October 5, 2026

Required Qualifications

  • 12 months of permanent, full-time RN experience in pediatric critical care
  • Current, active Ohio or compact state RN license (must be in hand at submission)
  • Active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Demonstrated competency in EKG rhythm recognition and inotrope management
  • Experience with epilepsy monitoring and specialized care for patients up to age 25
  • NIHSS certification preferred

Clinical Scope

You'll manage high-acuity pediatric patients across all age groups, from neonates through adolescents. Clinical responsibilities include hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, medication administration (including vasoactive drugs), seizure assessment and monitoring, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary care team.

Requirements During Orientation

  • ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate competency assessment (two attempts to pass)
  • Orientation modules averaging 6–15 hours
  • Annual competency training if contract extends beyond one year

  • Background check required; open cases disqualify candidates
  • Drug screening (10-panel plus nicotine) required within 12 months of start date
  • References from a clinical manager or ANM required; co-worker references not accepted
