Medical-Surgical Nursing — 16-Week Contract
About the Role
The facility is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for its medical-surgical unit. You'll provide comprehensive care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and surgical conditions, including those recovering from surgery, managing chronic diseases (diabetes, cardiac, respiratory), and experiencing acute illness.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition; escalate care as needed
- Manage pre- and post-operative care, including wound care and pain management
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
- Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and discharge instructions
- Ensure accurate EMR documentation, infection control, and fall prevention protocols
- Typical patient load: 4–6 patients per shift
Requirements
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; 1+ years in medical-surgical nursing required
- Travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) preferred
- Ability to manage diverse patient caseloads across varying acuity levels
Schedule & Duration
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Contract: 16 weeks
