Emergency Department RN – Travel Contract
Location: Birmingham, AL
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract Duration: 16 weeks

About the Role
The facility's Emergency Department is seeking an experienced RN to join a fast-paced, high-volume team. You'll provide direct care to patients across the full spectrum of emergent and urgent conditions, from initial through disposition.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid patient and acuity assessment to prioritize care flow
- Deliver comprehensive nursing interventions for emergent conditions, including trauma activations and codes
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and departmental protocols
- Monitor and manage patients through their ED stay—from arrival through admission, transfer, or discharge
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams on care planning
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Support safe, efficient patient flow in a high-volume environment
- Uphold infection control and de-escalation protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- 1+ years of recent ED nursing experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
- Travel nursing experience required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- TNCC and/or CEN preferred
