Registered Nurse

Step-Down / Med-Surg RN — Night Shift | Morgantown, WV

13-Week Contract | 36 Hours Guaranteed | Nights 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

This flex unit serves both medical-surgical and step-down patients, adjusting assignments based on acuity and census. The patient population is primarily medical diagnoses, and RNs must be comfortable managing either level of care depending on the shift's needs.

Shift & Scheduling

• 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend required; approximately half of recognized holidays
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Float responsibility: first to float to other floor or step-down units

Clinical Scope

• Manages a diverse medical patient population across both floor and step-down acuity levels
• RNs titrate drips per order, including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, PCAs (morphine, dilaudid, fentanyl), and TPN
• Respiratory support includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen; vented patients requiring setting adjustments are transferred to ICU
• Telemetry monitored via a remote surveillance center with central monitoring on unit; RNs are not required to read their own strips

Team Structure

• Charge RNs and House Supervisors present 24/7
• Clinical Associates (nursing aides) support patient care on the unit

Requirements

• Active RN license (willing to wait for licensure)
• BLS (AHA) required
• Prior electronic health records experience required
• Must be able to manage both med-surg and step-down patient loads

Dress Code: Royal blue and white scrubs (any combination)

Cancellation Policy: Up to 2 shifts per 13-week assignment
