Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse — Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility seeks an experienced Pediatric Cardiac ICU nurse for a night shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) role in Dallas, Texas. This is a 13-week contract with a Tuesday start date.
Unit & Clinical Scope
You'll work in a dedicated Pediatric Cardiac ICU managing high-acuity and step-down level cardiac patients. The unit operates on an acuity-adaptive model with patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and occasionally 1:3. You'll care for children with congenital heart disease, post-operative cardiac patients, and neonatal cardiac cases requiring specialized intervention.
Typical Responsibilities
- Central line, arterial line, and transthoracic line management
- Intubation/extubation and conscious sedation
- Post-operative recovery for cardiac and general procedures
- ECMO cannulation and decannulation
- CRRT and manual peritoneal dialysis
- Code management and sternal closures
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Pediatric CVICU experience as a staff nurse
- At least 2 years of PICU experience
- 3–4 prior contracts in dedicated pediatric cardiac ICU
- Expertise in congenital heart disease and post-operative cardiac management
- Ability to manage central lines, arterial lines, and transthoracic lines
- Current PALS, BLS, and ACLS certifications
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years of Pediatric CVICU experience
- 1+ year with neonatal cardiac patients (pre- and post-op)
- 2+ years in pediatric cardiac step-down or cardiology
Schedule & Details
- Rotating weekends (night shift: Friday and Saturday)
- No on-call requirement
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Royal blue scrubs
- Float pool includes PICU, NICU, Pediatric Med-Surg, and Pediatric Oncology
