Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiac ICU nurse for a 13-week contract in Dallas, Texas. This is a day shift position (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) with a Tuesday start date.
About the Unit
Clinical Scope
Typical responsibilities include:
- Central line and arterial line management and placement
- Conscious sedation
- Intubation and extubation
- Post-operative recovery (general and cardiac procedures)
- Sternal closures
- Code management
- ECMO cannulation and decannulation
- CRRT and manual peritoneal dialysis
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse
- 3–4 previous contracts in dedicated pediatric CICU
- At least 2 years PICU experience
- Expertise managing congenital heart disease and post-operative cardiac patients
- Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, and transthoracic lines
- Current PALS, BLS, and ACLS certifications
Schedule & Expectations
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Rotating weekends (Saturday and Sunday for day shift)
- No on-call requirements
- May float to PICU, NICU, pediatric med-surg, or pediatric oncology
- Royal blue scrubs
