Contract: 13 weeks | Start Date: September 11, 2026
Shift: 12-hour nights (1830–0700) | Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
Unit Overview
This fast-paced stepdown/PCU unit manages a high volume of admits and discharges, caring for patients with heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke. RNs are expected to titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin, and must independently read and interpret telemetry strips. CPAP management and troubleshooting are also within RN scope on this unit.
Scheduling
- Cyclic scheduling; every other weekend required
- One major and one minor holiday commitment per contract
- Float to ICU may be required for candidates with appropriate experience
Support Structure
- Charge nurse present each shift and carries a full patient assignment
- Nurse aides / patient care techs available on unit
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Active RN license (BSN required)
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Candidates must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
Important Compliance Notes
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (driver's license verified at submittal)
- Candidates may not have held full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
- All requested time off must be submitted upfront; no additional RTO will be approved post-submission
