Medical-Surgical Nursing – Night Shift

Position Overview

The facility is seeking an experienced RN or LPN for a 13-week night assignment in medical-surgical nursing. This is a fast-paced unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with complex acute conditions.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift: 4 x 12-hour (18:30–07:00)
• Rotating weekends and holidays (no call)
• Patient ratio: 1:7
• Flexible schedules available: 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48 options
• Float required across the unit

Clinical Scope

You'll manage patients with sepsis, renal failure, GI bleeds, respiratory failure, COPD, pancreatitis, UTIs, anemia, and post-operative care including total joint replacements. Core skills include IV management, central line blood draws, chest tube and tracheostomy care, wound management, phlebotomy, telemetry monitoring, and blood product administration. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, IV teams, and rapid response.

Requirements

• 2+ years of nursing experience
• AHA BLS certification (required)
• First-time travelers welcome
• Permanent residence ≥100 miles from the facility's service area
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Onboarding

Orientation begins on Sundays with online modules. You'll complete 16 hours of non-billable orientation. You must pass a Relias EKG test within 72 hours of acceptance (two attempts allowed). Pre-placement drug testing and fit testing are required.
