Registered Nurse

Medical-Surgical RN — Travel Contract | Johnson City, TN

Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (18:30–07:00) | 13-Week Contract

This med-surg unit cares for an adult patient population with diagnoses spanning medical-surgical, trauma, orthopedics, and urology/gynecology for patients ages 15 and up. Clinicians can expect a high-acuity, well-supported environment with access to interdisciplinary services including IV teams, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams.

Schedule & Float

• Schedule options: 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48
• Rotating weekends required (nights: 6 weekend shifts per 4-week period)
• Rotating holidays required
• Floating required

Clinical Skills Required

• Blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, heparin management
• Chest tube, tracheostomy, and HFNC/BiPAP/CPAP management
• Central line blood draw, PICC line management
• Pre/post care for neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, and hemodialysis
• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Wound care/wound vac, surgical drains, colostomy/ileostomy care
• Traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury management
• Provider-specific voiding trials; suture and staple removal

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience; charge experience preferred
• AHA BLS required; AHA ACLS preferred (AHA certifications only accepted)
• NIHSS preferred
• Relias basic EKG test must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Permanent residence must be 100+ miles from the facility's service area

Orientation

General orientation begins Sundays; includes online modules (non-billable, approx. 4–5 hours).
