RN – Step Down | Night Shift | 13-Week Contract

Shift & Schedule

  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • 3 × 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
  • 13-week contract

Unit Overview

You'll work in a high-acuity, cardiac-focused progressive care unit. Expect frequent admissions and discharges, significant procedural volume, and patients with complex cardiac conditions including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, arrhythmias, chest pain, and post-cardiac-intervention care.

Required Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
  • Independent cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia exam (paper-based, proctored, first attempt only—no remediation)
  • Proficiency with common cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, lasix, nitroglycerin
  • Chest tube management experience
  • Telemetry interpretation and monitoring
  • Achieve a "4" rating on all cardiac skills

Clinical Scope

Common procedures include right and left heart catheterizations, TR band and sheath management, stent placement, valve replacements, STEMI/NSTEMI care, pacemaker and ICD management, cardioversions, and ablations. Heart transplant and LVAD experience is preferred; training is available if needed.

Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 to 1:5.

Float Expectations

You may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed. You will not float to cardiac monitoring tech roles.
