About the Unit
The facility's step-down unit is a high-acuity, cardiac-focused progressive care unit. You'll care for patients across the spectrum of cardiac conditions, from post-procedural recovery to complex arrhythmia management. This is a fast-paced environment with frequent admissions, discharges, and a significant volume of cardiac interventions.
What You'll Do
- Manage patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, valve replacement, and ablation procedures
- Care for heart transplant and LVAD patients
- Independently interpret telemetry and manage common cardiac drips (insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, nitroglycerin)
- Perform chest tube management, TR band monitoring, and sheath removal
- Provide care for heart failure, atrial fibrillation, SVT, ventricular arrhythmias, and STEMI/NSTEMI patients
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
- RN License (current in Georgia)
- Strong telemetry skills with ability to independently interpret rhythms
- Dysrhythmia certification – you must pass a proctored paper-based exam on the first attempt (calipers required; no tech assistance)
- Proficiency with common cardiac medications and drips
- Chest tube experience
- Cardiac skills rated "4" across the board
- Familiarity with heart transplant and LVAD care preferred (training provided if needed)
Floating
You may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed.
