RN – Step Down
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 3 × 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)

About the Role
The facility's step-down unit is a high-acuity, cardiac-focused progressive care unit. You'll care for patients recovering from acute cardiac events and procedures, managing complex hemodynamics and providing close monitoring in a fast-paced environment.
Clinical Scope
Patient populations include: heart failure, atrial fibrillation and flutter, supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, chest pain, hypertension, heart transplant recipients, and LVAD patients.
Common procedures: right and left heart catheterizations, stent placement, valve replacement, cardioversion, ablation, pacemaker and ICD insertion, and groin site management.
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 to 1:5, with high acuity, frequent admissions/discharges, and significant procedural volume.
Requirements
- Minimum 18 months recent cardiac unit experience
- Strong dysrhythmia interpretation skills – you must pass a proctored, paper-based dysrhythmia exam on the first attempt (using calipers; no tech assistance)
- Proficiency with common cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, nitroglycerin
- Chest tube experience
- Heart transplant and LVAD experience preferred (training provided if needed)
- Current RN license and required certifications
Unit Operations
- No ventilator patients on this unit
- May float to similar cardiac/progressive care units as staffing needs dictate
- Charting system proficiency required
