RN – Step Down Unit

Shift & Schedule

  • 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
  • 13-week contract
  • Start date: October 19, 2026

Unit Overview

You'll work in a high-acuity, cardiac-focused step-down unit managing patients with complex cardiac conditions including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias, and post-procedural care. This is a fast-paced environment with frequent admissions, discharges, and significant procedural volume.

Patient Populations & Procedures

Common patients include those recovering from cardiac catheterizations, stent placements, valve replacements, pacemaker/ICD insertions, ablations, and cardioversions. You'll also care for heart transplant and LVAD patients. Groin site management, TR band care, and sheath removal are routine responsibilities.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience
  • Strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
  • Must pass a proctored, paper-based Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt (no tech assistance; calipers required)
  • Proficiency with cardiac drips: insulin, milrinone, dobutamine, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and nitroglycerin
  • Chest tube management experience
  • Competency rating of "4" on all cardiac skills

You may float to similar cardiac/PCU units as needed.

License & Certification

Current RN license required.
