Physical Therapist – Acute Care
Position Overview
The facility seeks a Physical Therapist for a 13-week contract in its acute care rehabilitation department. You'll evaluate and treat patients across multiple clinical areas in a fast-paced hospital environment, working Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with a minimum of two weekend days per month.
Clinical Scope
You'll work with patients presenting neurological, orthopedic, cardiovascular, oncological, and general medical conditions. Responsibilities include:
- Performing initial and ongoing patient assessments
- Establishing, revising, and evaluating individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients and families
- Delivering evidence-based physical therapy interventions
- Overseeing physical therapy assistants, students, and support staff
- Engaging with interdisciplinary teams for coordinated care
- Documenting care in real-time using the electronic health record
Environment & Team
The rehabilitation department comprises a collaborative team of approximately 45–50 associates, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. You'll work across multiple units within the hospital, supporting high-acuity patient populations. The role demands critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to function independently in a demanding, sometimes stressful setting.
Requirements
- Current state physical therapy license
- Valid driver's license
- Vaccinations: MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA)
- ACLS/PALS certification
- Fit testing and health screening
- Background check and drug screening
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- Minimum 2 weekend days/month
- Guaranteed 40 hours/week
