Physical Therapist – Acute Care

Position Overview

The facility seeks a Physical Therapist for a 13-week contract in its acute care rehabilitation department. You'll evaluate and treat patients across multiple clinical areas in a fast-paced hospital environment, working Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with a minimum of two weekend days per month.

Clinical Scope

You'll work with patients presenting neurological, orthopedic, cardiovascular, oncological, and general medical conditions. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing initial and ongoing patient assessments
  • Establishing, revising, and evaluating individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients and families
  • Delivering evidence-based physical therapy interventions
  • Overseeing physical therapy assistants, students, and support staff
  • Engaging with interdisciplinary teams for coordinated care
  • Documenting care in real-time using the electronic health record

Environment & Team

The rehabilitation department comprises a collaborative team of approximately 45–50 associates, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists. You'll work across multiple units within the hospital, supporting high-acuity patient populations. The role demands critical thinking, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to function independently in a demanding, sometimes stressful setting.

Requirements

  • Current state physical therapy license
  • Valid driver's license
  • Vaccinations: MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA)
  • ACLS/PALS certification
  • Fit testing and health screening
  • Background check and drug screening

Contract Details

  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Minimum 2 weekend days/month
  • Guaranteed 40 hours/week
