Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) — Registered Nurse
Austin, TX | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 13-Week Contract | 36 Guaranteed Hours/Week
This CVICU opportunity is ideal for an experienced cardiac RN looking to work in a high-acuity environment managing complex surgical and advanced heart failure patients.
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
The unit serves an 80% cardiac surgery and 20% advanced heart failure patient population. Clinical responsibilities include:
- Open heart recovery, heart transplants, and LVAD implants
- ECMO, Impella, IABP, and CRRT management
- Swan-Ganz catheter insertion and CCO monitoring
- High-risk perioperative cardiac care
Float Requirements
Nurses may be asked to float as needed to MICU, SICU, Medical, or Cardiac Stepdown units.
Preferred Experience
- Cardiac advanced device therapy management
- Minimum experience with IABP, Impella, and Swan-Ganz management

Licensing & Credentials
- Active RN license (Nursys verification required)
- EKG competency exam required at onboarding
- Core competency assessment and unit-specific skills checklist required
- Standard health documentation required (immunizations, TB screening, drug screen)
Schedule
- Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Guaranteed hours: 36/week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Anticipated start: October 6, 2026
