Registered Nurse – Cardiac ICU

Position Overview

The facility seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for its Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. You will deliver high-quality, evidence-based patient care, implement individualized care plans, administer physician and nursing orders, and lead discharge planning in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Unit Details

This high-acuity cardiac unit specializes in post-operative cardiac surgery and advanced heart failure management. You'll care for patients recovering from open heart surgery, heart transplants, LVAD implants, and those requiring advanced mechanical support (ECMO, Impella, IABP). The unit also manages patients on continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), Swan-Ganz catheters, and continuous cardiac output monitoring.

Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
  • Scrub Color: Navy
  • Float Assignments: You may be assigned to MICU, SICU, or Medical/Cardiac Stepdown units as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license (verified via Nursys)
  • Preferred experience managing cardiac advanced devices (IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz catheters minimum)
  • Required vaccinations and health screening per facility policy

Clinical Scope

You'll manage complex post-cardiac-surgery patients and high-risk advanced heart failure cases (80% cardiac surgery / 20% heart failure population). This role demands strong hemodynamic monitoring skills, device management expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced critical care environment.
