Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) — Registered Nurse

Austin, TX | Days | 13-Week Contract

This CVICU position focuses on high-acuity cardiac surgery and advanced heart failure patients in a fast-paced critical care environment. The unit serves a patient population that is approximately 80% post-cardiac surgery and 20% advanced heart failure.

Clinical Scope

• Open heart recovery, heart transplants, and LVAD implants
• ECMO, Impella, IABP, and CRRT management
• Swan-Ganz catheter placement and CCO monitoring
• High-risk hemodynamic monitoring and critical care intervention

Shift & Schedule

• 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour days)
• 36 guaranteed hours per week
• 90-week contract (approximately 13 weeks)

Float Requirement

May float as needed to MICU, SICU, Medical, or Cardiac Stepdown units.

Preferred Experience

• Cardiac Advanced Device Therapy Management
• Minimum proficiency with IABP, Impella, and Swan-Ganz management

Required Credentials

• Active RN license (Nursys verification required)
• EKG competency exam upon onboarding
• Skills checklist and specialty competency assessment required
• Standard health documentation: immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Influenza, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap), TB testing, fit test, drug screen, and background check

This role is well-suited for experienced CVICU nurses comfortable with complex cardiac devices and high-acuity post-surgical patients.
