Post-Surgical Care Nurse
Position Overview
Join the post-surgical care team at the facility in Nashville, TN. This is a 13-week contract role on the night shift, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.
Unit & Patient Population
You'll care for post-operative general surgery patients ages 18 and older. Common diagnoses include bowel obstruction, wound infection, gastrointestinal cancers, and patients with morbid obesity. All patients are hemodynamically stable and do not require mechanical ventilation. The unit also receives overflow medical and surgical patients from throughout the hospital.
What to Expect
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- Teamwork focus: Strong communication with providers, including surgical residents who cover 24/7
- Float potential: You may be asked to float to different units or facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs, census, and acuity. You'll always be notified before your shift if floating is required
- Team composition: RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and Nurse Interns; RNs assume full responsibility for their patient teams
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test
Guarantees
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week contract
This is a straight night shift with a collaborative, supportive environment focused on quality post-operative care.
