Post Surgical Care Nurse
Position Overview
Join the post surgical care unit as an RN providing care to general surgery patients in a collaborative, supportive environment. You'll work nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) for a 13-week contract beginning October 5, 2026.
Clinical Scope
Care for hemodynamically stable post-operative patients, typically ages 18 and older. Common diagnoses include bowel obstruction, wound infection, gastrointestinal cancers, and post-bariatric surgery patients. You may also support overflow medical and surgical patients as census dictates. Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:6.
The unit benefits from strong provider collaboration, including 24/7 surgical resident coverage, ensuring excellent communication and clinical support.
Shift & Float Requirements
- Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (night shift)
- Float: You may be asked to float to other units or facilities within a 35-mile radius based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity. You'll receive notification before your shift if a float assignment is required.
Staffing Model
The unit employs RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and Nurse Interns. As an RN, you assume full responsibility for your assigned patient team.
Required Credentials
- Current RN license (verification required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test
Contract Details
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
