Labor & Delivery Nurse – Night Shift
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced L&D nurse for a night shift position on a high-acuity labor and delivery unit. This is a 13-week contract running three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM–7:30 AM), every other weekend.
Schedule & Float Requirements
- 3x12-hour nights (7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend; holidays as scheduled
- Float required to maternal assessment, maternal–baby, and obstetric special care units
- One week pre-approved time off
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (first-time travelers welcome)
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
- AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
- Active license in hand at time of application
- Compliance EKG exam required (2 attempts allowed)
Clinical Scope
You'll provide care to laboring and postpartum patients in a high-acuity setting, managing an average of 2 patients per shift. Clinical responsibilities include:
- Labor support and vaginal delivery assistance
- High-risk delivery management and cesarean section support
- Fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
- Neonatal resuscitation
- IV management, medication administration (magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, antihypertensives)
- Blood product administration
- Care for complications including preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and malpresentation
Unit Support
Collaborate with IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response teams.
