About the Role
You will provide direct nursing care on a general surgical unit serving adult patients with varying acuity levels, including those requiring telemetry monitoring. You'll implement and monitor individualized care plans, assess and communicate patient conditions, coordinate care across disciplines, and support discharge planning in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor patient care plans with critical thinking and decisive judgment
- Assess, record, and communicate patient conditions appropriately
- Serve as primary coordinator among nursing and clinical disciplines
- Execute physician and nursing orders
- Work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic, stressful environment
- Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required
Unit Environment
You'll work alongside PCTs, a healthcare unit coordinator, virtual sitter monitoring, and monitor techs. Patient ratios typically run 1:5–6.
Schedule Expectations
- Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Up to 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Holiday flexibility required based on department needs
Required Credentials
- Current RN license (verification required)
- BLS/ACLS preferred
- Onboarding requirements include pharmacology and medical-surgical competency exams, immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, influenza, Tdap, varicella, Hepatitis B), TB screening, and background check
