Neurology/Stroke Unit – RN

About the Role
Join the facility's designated stroke unit as a Registered Nurse. You'll deliver high-quality care to patients recovering from acute stroke and related neurological conditions, with a focus on improving functional outcomes and quality of life. This is a fast-paced environment where teamwork and clear communication are essential.
Clinical Setting
The stroke unit serves patients ages 18 and older with a mix of acute stroke cases and general medical-surgical patients. You'll work with a diverse clinical team including RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Nurse Interns. Nurse-to-patient ratios support focused, personalized care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to stroke and acute neurology patients
- Assess and monitor neurological status using standardized assessments
- Support patients in regaining independence with Activities of Daily Living
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
- May float to other units or nearby facilities within a 35-mile radius based on patient census and acuity
Required Credentials
- Current RN license (verification via Nursys required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test
What to Expect
Standard onboarding includes health screenings, vaccination verification, competency assessments, and background checks per facility policy. Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
