Medical-Surgical Stroke Stepdown RN — Night Shift | Utica, NY
This 13-week contract places you on a busy Medical-Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit caring for adult patients across a broad range of diagnoses and acuity levels.
Shift & Schedule
- Nights: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12-hour shifts per week
- 36 guaranteed hours weekly
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
- Floating required
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
You'll care for adult patients presenting with stroke, altered mental status, renal disease/dialysis needs, COPD, CHF, ia, and other pulmonary and general med-surg diagnoses, including isolation cases. Common equipment includes IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience with stroke stepdown background
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Active, unencumbered NY RN license (all active RN licenses must be verified)
- Current AHA BLS
- NIHSS certification required (may be obtained prior to start)
- Skills checklist matching the MS specialty
- Requested time off must be submitted at time of application
