Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit
About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You'll provide skilled nursing care to moderate-acuity patients—including those transitioning from ICU and those at risk of clinical deterioration—in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; identify and respond to patient condition changes
- Administer medications, including IV drips, per physician orders
- Assess and manage patients requiring closer monitoring than medical-surgical units but not intensive care
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams on individualized care plans
- Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment, and recovery
- Accurately document assessments and interventions in the EMR
- Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients)
- Support infection control and fall prevention protocols
What We're Looking For
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience; 1+ year PCU/step-down experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- PCCN certification preferred
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
Position Details
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule: Every other weekend per unit need
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Start Date: October 4, 2026
