Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role
You'll provide nursing care to moderate-acuity patients requiring closer monitoring than medical-surgical units but who do not require ICU-level care. This is ideal for nurses who thrive in a step-down environment managing patients transitioning from ICU or at risk of clinical deterioration.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs, responding promptly to changes in patient condition
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care using an evidence-based approach
- Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
- Collaborate with physicians, intensivists, and the interdisciplinary team on the plan of care
- Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Educate patients and families on their condition, treatment plan, and recovery process
- Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) per facility acuity guidelines
- Ensure compliance with infection control and fall prevention protocols
- Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses
Requirements
- Active RN license in Kentucky (or compact license as applicable)
- 2+ years of acute care RN experience, with at least 1 year in PCU/step-down
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certification required
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification preferred
