Emergency Department RN — Travel Contract | Downey, CA

This 15-week day-shift contract places an experienced Emergency Department RN in a high-volume, combined Adult/Pediatric ED serving patients across all age groups — from neonates to geriatrics. The department receives STEMI and stroke patients and manages a broad acuity range including neurological, orthopedic, and traumatic emergencies.

Shift & Schedule

  • Days, 3×12-hour shifts (07:00–19:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • 4–6 weekend shifts per contract
  • Must be willing to work holidays
  • No RTO during the first two weeks; maximum 3 days RTO for the full contract

Clinical Scope

  • , dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Arterial line and central line care, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation
  • Procedural sedation administration, BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Blood product administration, phlebotomy, ABG interpretation
  • Trauma care: neuro-trauma, TBI, spinal cord injury, gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, near drowning
  • CVA and ICP monitoring

Required Certifications

ACLS, BLS, CPI, PALS — NIHSS and TNCC preferred

Minimum Requirements

  • 2 years of Emergency Department experience
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Valid California RN license required at time of submission
  • References and copies of certifications required with submission
  • Advanced EKG exam required before start (80% to pass; two pre-start attempts, one onsite attempt)
