Orthopedics / Med-Surg with Telemetry — Travel RN | Nights | Burlington, NC

This 13-week night shift contract (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12s) places you on an orthopedic and medical-surgical unit serving adult and geriatric patients. The unit maintains telemetry monitoring capability and features an on-unit physical therapy gym, allowing patients to receive rehabilitative care without transport off the floor. High-acuity ED patients are occasionally accommodated as well.

Patient Population & Clinical Scope

  • High volume: post-surgical patients including total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and other orthopedic procedures
  • Moderate volume: neck and back surgery patients, inpatient and 24-hour observation medical patients
  • Clinical skills utilized: dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, central line draws, PICC line management, wound care/wound VAC, continuous bladder irrigation, tracheostomy care, PCA management, pre/post hemodialysis management, and IV management

Schedule & Expectations

  • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 3x12-hour shifts
  • Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) required
  • No on-call required
  • Float to other campus locations as needed
  • Charge RN shifts required as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Charge RN experience required
  • Active RN license in hand at time of submission
  • BLS certification required
  • Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed)
  • No local candidates within 50 miles
  • COVID-19 and flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Orientation: 24 hours; non-billable modules average 2–4 hours and are completed during orientation.
