Progressive Care Unit (PCU) — Night Shift | Burlington, MA
13-Week Contract | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
This PCU position supports a high-acuity progressive care environment where clinical precision and adaptability are essential. The unit manages complex medical-surgical patients requiring close monitoring, and nurses must be proficient in titrating pressors — this is a firm requirement for all candidates.
Schedule & Hours
- 12-hour night shifts; 72 hours guaranteed biweekly
- Every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, Sunday for night shift)
- Float may occur in 4-hour blocks within the shift to ED holds, inpatient holds, PACU, and other boarding units
Clinical Requirements
- Must be able to titrate vasopressors
- Patient ratios range from 1:3 to 1:5 depending on acuity and census
- Trauma experience strongly preferred; candidates without prior travel experience must have trauma background
- Day-one pass/fail competency testing administered upon start
Certifications
- BLS (AHA) — required
- ACLS (AHA) — preferred
- NIHSS — preferred
Additional Details
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Weekly start dates (Mondays); target start October 5, 2026
- Candidates must have a minimum 6-month separation from this facility system prior to placement (permanent, per diem, or contract)
- Scrub color: confirm upon offer
