Registered Nurse
Special Care Nursery (SCN) — Night Shift | Concord, NH
Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts/week)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks | Guaranteed Hours: 36/week
Start Date: ASAP
This Special Care Nursery is integrated within the facility's Labor & Delivery unit, offering a collaborative, cross-trained nursing environment. SCN nurses attend vaginal deliveries and are present in the OR for cesarean sections, making delivery room comfort an important asset.
Clinical Scope:
- Cares for neonates born at 32 weeks gestation and above
- Manages grower/feeder patients
- Administers surfactant via LMA to appropriate candidates
- Initiates neonatal IVs
- Average census of 2–5 neonates per shift
Float: Occasional float to postpartum or pediatrics is possible but not expected for travelers; candidates without experience in those areas will function in a helping-hands capacity.
Required Qualifications:
- 3–4 years of nursing experience, with a minimum of 2 years in NICU or Level 2 SCN
- Comfortable assisting at deliveries and performing neonatal IV starts
- Active RN license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postpartum nursing experience (helpful but not required)
- Familiarity with an electronic health records system
Candidates should be confident in a fast-paced, integrated women's and newborn services environment where flexibility and neonatal clinical expertise are key.
