Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Contract Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role
The facility is seeking an experienced RN for its Progressive Care Unit (PCU). You'll provide nursing care to moderate-acuity patients transitioning from ICU or at risk of clinical deterioration—patients who require closer monitoring than med-surg but do not need full ICU-level care.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and vital signs continuously; identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications, including select IV drips, per physician orders
- Assess, manage, and educate patients and families on condition, treatment, and recovery
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team on plan of care
- Respond to rapid response and code interventions as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and infection control/fall prevention protocols
- Manage a moderate patient load (typically 3–4 patients) per facility guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (state or compact)
- Minimum 2 years acute care RN experience; 1+ year PCU/step-down experience required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- ADN or BSN
- Telemetry monitoring and moderate-acuity patient management experience
Preferred
- BSN
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification
Every other weekend required. No local rate drop.
