Psychiatric Nurse – 13-Week Travel Assignment
Position Overview
The facility is seeking an experienced psychiatric nurse for a 13-week contract assignment beginning September 28, 2026. You'll join a behavioral health unit providing direct patient care in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Shift & Schedule
- Days: Three 12-hour shifts per week (6:30 AM start)
- 36 hours per week
- Every third weekend
- Holiday rotation required; you'll work 1–2 of the three summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
- On-call availability as needed (approximately 1x per pay period)
Unit Details
This is a dedicated psychiatric/behavioral health unit. You may care for geriatric patients with psychiatric diagnoses. Patient ratios can reach 1:9. Grey scrubs required.
Requirements
- License: Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
- Experience: 24 months of current psychiatric/behavioral health nursing (required)
- Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) – current at hire
- Charge Experience: Required
- EMR: Proficiency with the facility's electronic health record system
- De-escalation Training: Preferred to be active upon arrival; can be obtained during onboarding (MOAB, MAB, CPI, or SAMA)
- Professional Reference: From a charge nurse, supervisor, manager, or director within the last 24 months
